Sarita's blog focuses on connecting with yourself on a deeper level through mindset, self-care and healthy habits.
I was that person that used to role out of bed pretty much to get ready for work everyday and the only thing I did consistently was walk Scruffy, my little blind dog. At the time, I didn't find the importance of having a morning routine.
Now I know, as an entrepreneur, as a mindset and success coach; the morning routine is the way you MOLD the day. Your morning routine sets the intentions for the day. When you set intentions for the day, you are communicating to yourself on a subconscious level what you desires are.
I created this blog post as a gentle reminder that having some type of morning practice is very important for yourself, and your own personal self-care.
Here are a few things I have picked up over the years regarding a morning routine.
1. Don't automatically look at your phone! I know super hard and I have been guilt of it as we'll, for real but stop it. Keep it hidden and wake up to the good old fashioned alarm or...
The title may make you scratch your head in wonder, "how is this possible"
The reality is breaking up doesn't need to be hard, rough or nasty, in fact you can invite harmony into you life like you can with a lot of things.
The most important thing is you allow yourself space to breath, feel and present within the possible chaos that is occurring around you.
I am speaking from experience here because within the last 3 months I broke off an 8 year relationship that I knew I had not been aligned with for years but continued to stay in. I wasn't until just a month ago I moved out and started a new chapter and wanted to share a few tips I personally did in order to breath life into myself daily while I was going through the transition.
Here are the 5 lessons I’ve learned during my break-up:
Boundaries are the limits that we set on our time, energy, and space with ourselves or another person. There are times that boundaries can feel challenging to set in place, so I have come up three reasons why boundaries can be a little challenging.
There are two types of boundaries, internal and external.
These are the limits that you set with yourself and are extremely personal. In general, I like to describe having strong internal boundaries as keeping promises to yourself.
Unlike internal boundaries, these are the types of boundaries that include another person or persons, like a friend or mother-in-law, partner, employee, or sibling.
The process of setting boundaries is never cut and dry. It can time many years of practice and self-work to get more comfortable with saying No to others can tell you what is too much or too little, you are the only one that can do...
I had the pleasure of being in Mexico during the week of Birthday last week and had a lot of down time to do some reflection and creative work.
Here are a few things I though of during my trip that I wanted to share with you.
1. Gratitude Isn't Just an Attitude
Yes, we can give gratitude verbally, written or in thought but having the attitude is not enough. Yes having the mental state of gratitude is very important however it doesn't penetrate us at the soul level. Its the difference between knowing and actually doing. Knowledge will only take you so far. We can claim to "know something" but when it comes to implementing it into our lives, it shows up in a different way. It's about embodiment. When you are embodying gratitude it reverberates through you to your core.
2. Stop Worrying
This cliche response can be annoying I know but give me a minute to explain. I had a total light bulb moment when I was in Mexico, I...
I love springtime because I can finally drink smoothies without getting cold! LOL!
I am here to share with you the secret to a healthy glowing skin. To your surprise, the secret doesn’t consist of any super-expensive beauty products; rather, it includes fruits and vegetables that are rich in carotenoid.
Research has shown that people who ingest carotenoid on a daily basis have younger-looking, healthy, and glowing skin, which everyone craves.
Before you start eating vegetables and fruits to get that youthful glow, let me add that the secret also involves mixing them with healthy fats such as avocado. The human body needs these healthy fats.
The combination of fruits and vegetables with proteins and healthy fats provide you with nutrition. Since they are loaded with essential fatty acids and antioxidants, they benefit the skin by minimizing puffiness and redness, keeping it wrinkle-free and smooth.
It has been proven through research that what we eat has a direct effect on our...
It's no surprise that often we find ourselves pretty drained at the end of the day and take a moment to realize that we are giving energy to things that really don't need as much attention as we should give it.
I see energy as power and a simple analogy is every time we plug ourselves into an activity or a person we are giving away our power, whether it be positive power or not.
These are a few things we can be mindful of during our day when it comes to giving our energy that will cause us to feel drained at the end of the day.
Checking Social Media Constantly: I am super guilty of this particular energy consuming activity, I am still learning but have realized that by limiting my time on social medial allows me to be a lot more present in my current situations. Check the screen time on your phone to gauge how much time you spend on social media per week. If the number surprises you in a bad way try setting limits for yourself. Your mental and emotional...
Being severed from my ethnic culture was not my choice as a child but reclaiming my culture as an adult has been my choice. This is my personal story of how I lost what was once mine and gained it again through years of searching.
It was June 1983 and my adopted mother traveled to El Salvador from the Midwest to meet me for the first time. Although I don’t remember the first time we met, I can tap into the feelings of that 3 year old that was confused, lost and didn’t understand what was going on. Little did I know I was being uprooted from the language, the culture, my homeland to move to a foreign country where people didn’t look like me, speak like me, act like me or dress like me. The meeting was quick and before I knew it I was on a plane to St. Louis Missouri where I would commence my journey in the search for home.
If you can only imagine, as a child I was forced into survival mode. For me to be able to communicate with my family I HAD to learn the language...
As like many people I am reflecting on this past year and wanted to take a moment to share 10 lessons I learned in 2020.
1. Family & Health First
If there is anything this year has show us is that our family and our families health matter. This year has been a trying year for so many people and my heart goes out to you if you lost anyone to covid19 or know someone who has. In our efforts we have learned to be more mindful and considerate to people around us an respect people’s health. During our lockdown quarantine so many of us got the opportunity to get close to people in our household and got closer to people because we were not able to see them. Regardless we realized that family and health are what matter the most!
2. Keep Showing Up
Covid19, the quarantine and everything else that I went through I confirmed that showing up is what I could do not only for myself but for you. Wellness to me, IS how we show up to the world. And with this year as full of anxiety, and...
Its close to the end of 2020, and what a year it has been am I right?
There is nothing more refreshing than stepping into the New Year wiped completely clean of any old baggage that you may still be holding onto so I have created some journal prompts that will help you reflect and properly celebrate the accomplishments in the last 12 months. Completing these will help you prepare yourself to be a CLEAN SLATE for this new year 2021.
Take some time to reflect on these, it's a go at your own pace process. Here are you 10 questions.
1. What are you MOST proud of accomplishing last year? What did you overcome? How did you grow? What did you create? Remember we went through a global pandemic so be gentle on yourself.
2. What are things you intentioned to accomplish this year and HAVEN't yet? Again please be gentle with yourself as we did have to deal with a global pandemic. Just make a note of what you want to carry in into 2021 if you had...
Soothing Activities For The Holidays
When times aren’t easy, it’s good to have activities that help you rejuvenate yourself. They may not fix everything, but your mind will start to feel more relaxed. You may even find that a simple act like enjoying your morning coffee puts a smile on your face.
To be honest, it’s hard to find the right words to say about this situation right now. It’s all pretty dizzying. It’s the end of the year, the Holidays, quarantine all over again in California, many people out of work again so I just want you to know that if you are struggling, it’s okay. Not every day will be productive or simple; we don’t live in an Instagram post. Some moments are harder and messier than others. (Personally, I’ve had days where I do just lay around and soak in being still and not feel guilty about doing all the time)
Remember that you’re only human and this isn’t an easy situation. It’s...
