I am one of those people who wasn't too phased out when the announcement of covid hit the states. Even going into quarantine I was doing fine and kept a positive outlook. With the ever changing climate outside it was pretty inevitable it would take a tole on all of us.
There are people that are thriving in quarantine, being able to relax and take time to recoup. And there are those of us that need a little extra boost of help when it comes to self care and stress reduction.
I took a little time to create this recourse for you that has helped me in the past during chaos times and hopefully will help you now as you continue life cooped up.
Tip To Help With Stress Reduction
Meditation: This can help create a healthy immune response and reduce anxiety. I start my morning out with 10 minutes of quite meditation.
Yoga: Mindful movement that connects to your breath can help you feel centered. There are a ton of resources of YouTube right now, or even google your nearest yoga studio and support them by going on line to see if there are holding classes virtually.
Deep Breathing: Inhale 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4. There's lots of variations here, so find what works best for you
Bath. For some people, a bath is the ultimate chill sesh. I love baths, especially with relaxing music and candles.
Journal. We can have some pent up emotions and may be going stir crazy at the moment, so writing them down and getting them out is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Stay hydrated. This is really important for stress reduction, adrenal health and overall health. Tired of just water? Get creative and mix some lemon or mint in with it!
Nourish Yourself. Some of us lose our appetite when stressed. Some of us eat more carbs, sugars, etc. (No judgement, me too! ) But I want you to be mindful that eating lower carbs and higher fats will help maintaining healthy adrenal function.
Activities
And don’t forget about your furry little friends, they are needing stimulation too!
I hope this list is helpful for some of you as you navigate the days that seems to be running into one long day.
I know for me, just keeping a routine has been helpful for me.
